A study released today states that the number of homeless childrenĀ is around 1.5 million. With this number only expected to grow.
We work with a number of rescue missions and we hear all the time about how the face of homelessness is changing. Gone are the days when men recovering from drug addiction crowded missions. While addiction recovery continues to be an important part of the holistic programs that leading missions use, job training, health care and school-age education support are also vital parts.
As you can imagine losing your home as a child often interrupts your schooling. Even short-term interruptions set children significantly behind their peers.
So if you aren’t already, support local programs that help folks out in this time of great need. Whether that’s a rescue mission, a church or whatever.
