TITLE: ACCOUNT MANAGER
REPORTS TO: ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE / ACCOUNT DIRECTOR (AE / AD)
RANKING: EXEMPT/SALARIED POSITION
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To assistance to the Account Executive / Account Director (AE / AD) in the day-to-day management of accounts while developing the skills necessary to provide account leadership when the Account Executive (AE) is out.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Gathers and assembles background information and analyses as needed by AE in development of briefs, etc.
- Provides assistance to assigned AE team on day-to-day activities for assigned clients, may include responding to client communications, handling mail/packages, production and creative deadlines, media placements, etc., to ensure continued progress of client workflow in the absence of the AE.
- Stays aware of client activities to provide backup when AE is unavailable.
- Provides input in planning stage as requested by AE or Traffic Manager. Assists AE in handling mailings, word processing final copy, agendas, conference reports, proposals, correspondence and other materials related to account service and prepares the above for client presentations.
- Handles paperwork and maintains files on all client activities, their competitors and their industries; maintains client correspondence file, approvals, copy, forms/documents, supplies for daily processing and tracking of account service work, etc.
- Maintains “Client Notebooks” for all assigned accounts, detailing past work and work-in-progress, and all pertinent information needed for accurate proofreading and meeting of client standards.
- By AE request, takes minutes at meetings, prepares and distributes contact reports (call reports), etc.
- Makes sure all media and projects proceed according to plan and deadlines, drawing attention of account team to potential problems before they occur.
- Is responsible for proofreading copy, artwork, printers’ proofs and color separations; sees that all work completes the standard agency approval process before being reviewed by clients or turned over to suppliers.
- Assists AE in preparation of client budgets, proforma, updating internal project budget tracking, and reviews monthly billing before giving to AE for final approval.
- Leads weekly calls with clients to update job status and needed resources/materials.
- Schedules and facilitates all calls/meetings with client. Attends all meetings as requested by the AE & AD.
- Develops strong working relationships with day-to-day contact (peers) at client.
- As interested, develops skills and experience needed to advance to AE & AD.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Teachable, with a desire to fully understand and embrace the agency account manager role.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, plus the ability to multi-task and negotiate priorities.
- Proficiency in computer use and able to learn and build on existing skills. Requires intermediate skills in word processing and beginner / intermediate skills in spreadsheet software as appropriate to functions performed at Masterworks.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and with limited direction, at peak performance.
- Command of grammar and language sufficient to proofread professional documents.
- Strong team player.
- Positive attitude.
