TITLE: DATA SOLUTIONS (DS) DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF DATA SOLUTIONS (DDS), INSIGHT & INNOVATION

RANKING: EXEMPT, SALARIED POSITION

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Front all jobs entering the work queue. Makes sure all needs are clearly spelled out and that solutions are an appropriate resource fit for time allowance and cost.  

Resource and create budgets per project’s need, scope and constraints. Ascertains what is attainable, how, when and at what cost, and communicates this to all necessary parties.   

Routinely evaluate and adjust assigned workloads to available Data Solutions (DS) staff. Matches deliverable needs to dates, resources, and budgets striving for an optimal balance between internal & external client satisfaction, MW profitability, reasonable DS per staff workload, and integrity to our DS research and development (R&D) work and any interdepartmental maintenance work needs.

Understands appropriateness of various tools and reports. Applies understanding to aid in both optimal project success measures and workload assignments. Also serves as a recommender (to Director of Data Solutions [DDS]) of ideas, suggestions, and actionable items for adjusting resources, due date changes, and budget adjustments based on review of measures.

Directly supports a range of internal clients, teams and assignment types. Supports new business, client services, and constituent insights with various operational and strategic needs. Works to build solid opportunity and problem-solving bridges with each – educating and facilitating as needed.  Works cross-functionally with all teams to help identify opportunities. Also spear-heads longer range planning in the spirit of both needs assessment and fiscal responsibility for both our clients and for MW. 

Support the success of the research and development team. Directs projects to completion per plans laid out by the DDS. Duties will include such elements as facilitating status reports of the overall projects with Stakeholders, facilitating project working sessions and business gathering meetings, and presenting new products or services to both internal and external clients.

Lead I&I “data-driven” department-wide initiatives. Drive project plan, engage stakeholders, manage resource and budget needs, and provide ongoing updates.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

Audit budgets at job opening with internal clients for proper opening elements, budgets, and allocations.

  1. Ability to work with the Masterworks traffic system personnel and system itself to help support and facilitate job opening needs.
  2. Audit jobs in queue across resources to adjust workload as necessary.
  3. Understand overall research and development projects, resources used in DS, and how they tie to the overall Masterworks growth vision.
  4. Facilitate and manage R & D projects, meetings and status reports with various audiences within Masterworks as deemed necessary.
  5. Report to the Director of DS any resource challenges, budget challenges, or R & D challenges that fall out of expected measures so they can adjusted appropriately immediately.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Skilled for and passionate in running a smooth operation; has natural abilities in scoping, assessing, problem-solving, using systems, and driving to completion success.

  1. Experienced in direct marketing, database marketing, CRM, and/or CEM.
  2. Background in nonprofit fundraising marketing management, including budgeting, forecasting and the application of analysis tools for management decision making.
  3. Experienced in managing expectations and needs of middle management, senior management, executive teams and management boards in decision support and innovation-driving requirements.
  4. Demonstrates high level of professionalism in all staff and client interactions; mentoring and advising Masterworks staff in a respectful and responsible manner as requested or required.
  5. Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills.
  6. Ability to work at peak performance with limited direction and competing deadlines.
  7. Strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
