A'Strict is a South Korean media art unit operating inside the digital design company d'strict, best known for the large-scale generative wave and water animations that turned public media facades such as Wave (2020, Seoul) and Waterfall-NYC (2021) into global viral moments. For collectors, A'Strict is less a conventional single-author artist market than a case study in how a design studio's in-house art unit builds cultural visibility through public installation and gallery exhibition, without, so far, an established secondary auction market.

A'Strict, also styled a'strict, is not an individual artist but a collaborative media artist unit formed within d'strict, a Seoul-based digital design company that describes itself as an "Art Tech Factory." The unit brings together motion graphic designers, visual artists, programmers, and system engineers to build large-scale, technology-driven audiovisual works, and its output is credited to the collective rather than to a named founder or a single practitioner.

A'Strict's public profile grew quickly from 2020, when d'strict's Wave animation, an illusionistic ocean wave wrapped around a giant LED cube at Coex's K-Pop Square in Seoul, went viral internationally during the pandemic. That same year A'Strict held its first solo gallery exhibition at Kukje Gallery in Seoul, running from August 13 to September 27, 2020, and d'strict opened ARTE MUSEUM in Jeju, an immersive media art venue built for its and A'Strict's work. In 2021 the unit produced Waterfall-NYC, a large public media facade in New York City, and its work Starry Beach was included in the LUX: New Wave of Contemporary Art program at 180 The Strand in London, alongside a separate London new media exhibition that featured A'Strict's Morando.

Because A'Strict is a corporate art unit rather than a person, there is no birth date, death date, or single biography to record. No dossier source reports the unit as dissolved as of 2026-07-18.

Institutional descriptions consistently frame A'Strict as a technology-forward hybrid of art and design. Kukje Gallery and LG OLED ART both describe the unit as having built an international reputation on an ambitious conceptual model integrating art and technology. FAD Magazine's 2021 survey of new media exhibitions in London named A'Strict among the "12 of the world's most celebrated new media artists and collectives," citing its work Morando. No dossier source preserves a verbatim, individually attributed critical quote beyond these institutional and outlet descriptions, so none is reproduced here as a pull quote.

A'Strict does not yet have a verified secondary auction market. In June 2021 the Korea JoongAng Daily reported that Sotheby's Hong Kong planned what it called the first auction for Korean digital artists, including a work by A'Strict carrying a presale estimate of HKD 480,000 to 650,000, about USD 61,800 to 83,700 at the time. No dossier source confirms whether the lot sold, at what price, or on what exact date, so no all-time auction record can be stated here.

A'Strict is a corporate art unit, not an individual artist, and that structure changes how collectors should think about it. There is no catalogue raisonne and no certificate-of-authenticity program tied to a single hand, and works are produced and issued through d'strict rather than through an independent studio practice. No gallery currently represents A'Strict on an ongoing basis, no museum collection holding has been verified, and no completed auction sale with a confirmed price has been documented. Any assessment of A'Strict's work at this stage rests on public installation visibility and design-world recognition rather than on an established secondary market.
