Why Danica Lundy matters
Danica Lundy is a Canadian-born painter whose densely layered, multi-perspective figurative paintings have moved quickly from small Canadian art-school exhibitions into the programs of international galleries such as White Cube and GNYP Gallery. For a collector, she represents an early-career artist whose institutional footprint, residencies, and rapidly building primary-market program are currently ahead of a still-thin auction history, a common pattern for a painter in the first decade of a career.

Biography
Danica Lundy was born in 1991 on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, with distinction, from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, in 2013, focusing on painting, and completed a Master of Fine Arts at the New York Academy of Art in 2017, where she concentrated on painting. Following her MFA she was awarded the New York Academy of Art's Chubb Post-Graduate Fellowship for 2017 to 2018, and she received the Leipzig International Art Programme Residency in Germany in 2016. She received the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant in 2015 and 2019, per her own CV; some gallery biographies describe her as a three-time recipient, though a third date is not documented.
Her exhibition history runs from an early solo show, How I Know I'm Here, at START Gallery in Sackville in 2013, to an international solo debut, The ghost I made you be, at C+N Canepaneri in Milan in 2018. She followed with solo exhibitions at GNYP Gallery in Berlin (bleach cologne, 2020), Super Dakota in Brussels (Cherry Log Road, 2021), and Magenta Plains in New York (Three Hole Punch, 2022), alongside a group presentation, Women of Now: Dialogues of Memory, Place, and Identity, at the Green Family Art Foundation in Dallas in 2022. In 2022 White Cube announced her joint representation alongside Super Dakota in Brussels, and she has since held two London solo exhibitions with White Cube, Stop Bath (2022) and Boombox (2024).
Lundy currently lives and works in Connecticut, having earlier been based in Brooklyn, New York.
Critical reception
No verbatim critic assessment from a major outlet could be confirmed for this profile. Her exhibition history, growing gallery program with White Cube and Super Dakota, and residency and grant record, including the Chubb Post-Graduate Fellowship and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grants, point to a fast-building institutional profile. Specific museum collection holdings and a claimed 2026 New York Times feature on Connecticut-based artists could not be independently confirmed for this profile and should be treated as unverified pending direct confirmation.
Market
Lundy's auction record is Miss Fist Kiss, which sold for USD 189,000 at Phillips New York on 15 November 2022, well above its high estimate of USD 120,000, with a reported hammer price of USD 150,000 before premium. Other public sale results for her work have come in well below that figure, consistent with a small, early-stage secondary market for a painter still primarily selling through her galleries. Most of her market activity to date runs through the primary market at White Cube and Super Dakota rather than at auction.

What collectors should know
Lundy's auction record rests on a small number of results, headlined by the USD 189,000 sale of Miss Fist Kiss in 2022, so any single data point should be read with caution rather than as a stable market trend. There is no catalogue raisonne for her work; authentication runs through her representing galleries, White Cube and Super Dakota. As an early-career artist whose museum and residency profile is building faster than her auction history, her market is best understood as still forming.
