Why Furlan Marri matters
A reader arriving at this page expecting a painter or sculptor should know at the outset that Furlan Marri is not an individual visual artist. It is a Geneva-registered independent watch brand, Furlan Marri SA, founded in 2021 by the industrial designer Andrea Furlan and the collector and artist Hamad Al Marri, whose surnames form the brand name. In auction catalogues the name functions as a maker attribution for a watch, in the way a maison's name would, rather than as the name of a single working artist with a personal body of paintings or sculpture. Within the independent watchmaking field, though, the brand has moved unusually fast: it won a major industry prize within months of launch and has since placed pieces through Phillips and the Only Watch charity auction, so it is a legitimate subject for a market note, framed correctly.

Biography
Furlan Marri was founded in Geneva in 2021 by Andrea Furlan, a Swiss industrial designer and graduate of ECAL, the Ecole cantonale d'art de Lausanne, and Hamad Al Marri, a Saudi watch collector and artist who studied business management in Australia. Furlan has worked as a design consultant for houses including Chopard, Hublot, Sarcar, and HD3 before co-founding the brand with Al Marri.
The company launched its first watch through a Kickstarter campaign that reached its funding goal within seconds, and by the end of its founding year had already won the Horological Revelation Prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve for its Mechaquartz chronograph, the "Mr. Grey," reference 1041-A. In 2023 the brand created its first high-complication piece, a secular perpetual calendar with a patented mechanism, for the Only Watch charity auction. It has since produced a series of limited and one-off pieces, including a "Disco Stromatolite" watch sold through Phillips to benefit the Swiss Institute in New York, a charity piece called "Solidarity Blue," and a "Sahra" edition made in partnership with the Riyadh retailer CLE: The Gallery. The brand opened a Tokyo showroom in Ginza and continues to operate out of Geneva.
Critical reception
Trade coverage of Furlan Marri has been largely enthusiastic, focused on the brand's ability to deliver vintage-inspired design and unusual materials, such as stromatolite dials, at accessible prices. Hodinkee has been quoted, via the watch-industry site Spot.watch, as calling Furlan Marri "the worst kept secret in great affordable watches," though the original Hodinkee article and its publication year were not directly available for this profile and the quote is reproduced here as relayed. The brand's clearest institutional validation is the 2021 Horological Revelation Prize from the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve, one of the watch industry's most closely watched juried awards, awarded within the brand's founding year.
Market
Furlan Marri's market is that of a young independent watch brand, not a fine-art market with an established price index. Public sources point to two figures. Phillips sold a unique "Disco Stromatolite" piece for USD 20,320 at the 2024 TimeForArt charity auction in New York, a well-documented result from an established auction house. A separate figure of USD 143,414 for a piece called "Solidarity Blue," reported by the auction aggregator EveryWatch as a 2022 sale through the platform Loupe This, is the highest number that surfaces in current research, but it comes from a single secondary source without a confirmed exact date or sale location, and should be treated with more caution than the Phillips result. There is no repeat-sale index, no long auction history, and no comparison to be made against a catalogue raisonne, because none exists.

Authentication and provenance
No catalogue raisonne.
No catalogue raisonne exists, and none is documented as forthcoming. Furlan Marri is a Geneva-registered independent watch brand (Furlan Marri SA), not a single visual artist, so there is no artist estate or authentication board. Individual watches are verified through the brand's own workshop and documentation rather than through a catalogue raisonne.

What collectors should know
This profile does not describe a traditional fine-art artist, and the usual signals used elsewhere on this site, museum collections, gallery representation, a catalogue raisonne, do not apply here: none were found in the sources reviewed. Furlan Marri is a two-founder watch company whose public "auction record" comes from the collectible-watch market, where results are comparatively few and where the highest reported figure to date rests on a single secondary source rather than a primary auction house record. Anyone tracking this name in an auction context should confirm which specific watch and sale is being referenced, verify authenticity directly through the brand, and treat any comparison to the painting or sculpture market as inapplicable.
