Fvckrender

Fvckrender, the alias of Canadian digital artist Frederic Duquette, is one of a small group of native NFT and crypto artists whose work has crossed into the traditional auction market, with sales reported through both Sotheby's and Christie's. For a collector, he is a case study in a market still forming: strong brand-level recognition and high figures cited on primary NFT platforms, set against a thin and largely unaudited public auction history, no catalogue raisonne, and no confirmed museum collection holdings to date.

Fvckrender was born Frederic Duquette in 1991 in Montreal, Canada. He left secondary school at 17 and has described himself as having no formal art or design training, saying in one interview that he applied to further schooling but was turned down. In 2016 he was in a bicycle accident that left him with lost sensation on the left side of his body. During his recovery he began making a new digital render every day, a self-taught practice that he has said turned into paid commercial work within about three months.

His prominence in the NFT era followed. By 2021, individual works were reported selling for prices described as exceeding 171 ETH, roughly USD 460,000 at the time, though the specific work and date behind that figure are not documented in available sources. That same year, Shift (2021) sold through Sotheby's in New York for USD 107,100, and Existence// was shown at Art Basel Miami.

Since then he has moved between digital, physical, and immersive formats: a debut solo presentation on an outdoor LED display on Oxford Street in London, reported by the Evening Standard in 2023 and again, as "Catch the Light," presented by ATRBUTE at W1 Curates, in coverage dated 2024; the sculpture-focused solo show Ascend during Frieze New York week in 2024, hosted by curator Carlo McCormick; the SuperRare Gallery exhibition Distorted Reality in New York; and the GPU-powered immersive show Submerge: Beyond the Render at ARTECHOUSE NYC, both reported in 2025. In 2025 he also co-founded Foil Gallery, a combined exhibition space and cafe in Montreal. He continues to work and, per recent profiles, lives in Vancouver, Canada.

Coverage of Fvckrender concentrates on his crossover from Instagram and NFT platforms into brand collaborations and, later, auction houses, rather than on formal art criticism. His 2024 sculpture debut, Ascend, during Frieze New York week was hosted by curator Carlo McCormick. His work has also been the subject of features in Hypebeast, TIME's "Genesis" collection, and the Evening Standard. In the Evening Standard's coverage of his 2023 outdoor London show, Duquette described the work as addressing his own experience with depression and anxiety and framed it as a message of hope for viewers facing similar struggles. No verbatim assessment from a named critic in a major outlet was located in available sources.

Fvckrender's clearest traditional-auction result is Shift (2021), sold at Sotheby's New York in June 2021 for USD 107,100; the exact calendar date of the sale is not specified in public sources. His broader market runs mostly through primary NFT platforms, including SuperRare, Nifty Gateway, OpenSea, and Foundation, rather than repeated secondary auction sales, and reported high figures for individual on-chain works, including a widely repeated claim of sales exceeding 171 ETH, are not tied to a specific title or date in available documentation. He has not, to date, sold through Christie's or Sotheby's with the frequency needed to establish a reliable secondary-market price history.

There is no catalogue raisonne and no certificate-of-authenticity program for Fvckrender's work. Digital and NFT pieces are generally verified through blockchain records and the minting platform of origin, while physical and sculptural works are verified through the artist and his studio. No traditional gallery is documented as his exclusive representative; his most consistent venue is Foil Gallery in Montreal, which he co-founded in 2025, alongside project-based collaborations with platforms, retailers, and auction houses. Auction supply is thin and concentrated in a single well-documented result, Shift at Sotheby's in 2021, so collectors should treat any claimed "record" price, on-chain or at auction, with caution until it is tied to a specific, dated, sourced sale.
