Michael Armitage

Michael Armitage was born in 1984 in Nairobi, Kenya, to a Kenyan mother and an English father. He spent his early years in Nairobi before leaving for England at 16 to finish secondary school at a boarding school. He began formal art training in London in 2002 with a foundation course at the Byam Shaw School of Art, then earned a BA in Fine Art from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2007, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma from the Royal Academy Schools in 2010.
