Robert Nava

Robert Nava was born in 1985 in East Chicago, Indiana. He earned a BA in Fine Art from Indiana University Northwest in 2008 and an MFA in Painting from Yale University School of Art in 2011. Earlier in his career he also exhibited with smaller and project-based spaces, including ThreeFourThreeFour Gallery in Brooklyn, Sorry We're Closed in Brussels, and V1 Gallery in Copenhagen.

His work is built from a deliberately unpolished, almost childlike vocabulary of acrylic, spray paint, and grease pencil, a visual language he has described as reaching back toward drawing before it becomes self-conscious. He has been represented by Pace Gallery since the early 2020s, and shows regularly with Vito Schnabel Gallery in New York and Night Gallery in Los Angeles. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, and continued to mount solo exhibitions internationally into 2026.
