Rusong Xiao

Rusong Xiao was born in 1922 in Beipu Township, Hsinchu County, Taiwan. From the 1950s onward he developed a personal style that fused Impressionist, Cubist, and Fauvist approaches to color and form with lines drawn from Chinese calligraphy, applied primarily in watercolor to landscapes and still life subjects. He lived and worked for much of his life in Hsinchu County, and his former residence in Zhudong Township has since been preserved as the Xiao Ru-Song Art Park, a memorial site bearing his name.

Available sources describe him as deceased, and place his death in 1992, though Masterworks has not been able to confirm an exact death date or place from primary records. Separately, at least one museum notice references a 2022 to 2023 exhibition tied to an anniversary connected to the artist; the sourcing on whether this anniversary marks a birth or death milestone is inconsistent, and this discrepancy has not been resolved.
