William Monk

William Monk was born in 1977 in Kingston upon Thames, in southwest London. He earned a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Kingston University between 1997 and 2000, then completed a two-year postgraduate residency at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, exact years undocumented, during which he won the Koninklijke Prijs voor Vrije Schilderkunst, the Dutch Royal Award for Painting, in 2005. He received the Jerwood Contemporary Painters award in the United Kingdom in 2009.
