Yuyu Yang

Yuyu Yang was born in 1926 in Yilan County, in what was then Japanese-ruled Taiwan; the exact day and month of his birth are not independently confirmed by more than one source, so only the year is stated here. He studied architecture at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts from about 1943, then fine arts at Fu Jen University in Beijing after returning from Japan, and later enrolled in the art department at National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei. Yuyu Yang died on October 21, 1997, at Fayuan Temple in Hsinchu, Taiwan, shortly after completing a solo exhibition, "Lifescape Sculpture of Yuyu Yang," at the Hakone Open-Air Museum in Japan.
